Extended Newsletter Subscription for Guests

Collect additional data even from your guest subscribers by simply installing this module. It adds input fields for gender, first name and last name to the default newsletter subscription form and you gain access to all the personal information of your guest subscribers in the subscribers grid in your admin panel. Additionally, you can easily export them via CSV/XML for further newsletter marketing.

Usage:

You don't have to configure anything if you are using the default newsletter subscription block defined in /app/design/frontend/base/default/layout/newsletter.xml). Just install the extension like described below, clear your cache and you're done.

If you are using or want to use the extended newsletter subscription form in a custom position, you have to set the correct template by passing it to the block xml, e.g. {{block type="newsletter/subscribe" template="mediarocks/newsletterextended/subscribe.phtml"}}.

This extension does not (by now) support the internal newsletter system with its variables.

Installation:

Installation via Magento Connect Manager:
Open the Connect Manager and upload the extension file via "Direct package file upload".

Manual Installation:
Unpack the extension and upload the app folder to your Magento root folder.

Note: Be sure to copy the template file from /app/design/frontend/base/default/mediarocks/newsletterextended/subscribe.phtml to your theme folder, if the extended subsciption form doesn't show up in the frontend.

Uninstall Module:

To uninstall the module, please use the Magento Connect Manager or remove the following files and folders from your system manually:

- app/etc/modules/Mediarocks_NewsletterExtended.xml
- app/code/community/Mediarocks/NewsletterExtended
- app/design/frontend/base/default/layout/mediarocks_newsletterextended.xml
- app/design/frontend/base/default/template/mediarocks/newsletterextended/subscribe.phtml
- app/locale/de_DE/Mediarocks_NewsletterExtended.csv
- app/locale/en_US/Mediarocks_NewsletterExtended.csv
