Toggle Mobile View

Details

Magento allows you to easily override your normal design by setting a user-agent based exception in the System->Configuration->Design (under General section)->Themes. This is a great way to allow users of your website to see the specialised mobile version of your website.
However, sometimes mobile websites can have limited features or an unfamiliar experience and your customers may prefer to use the desktop version of your website (as many websites allow).

This is exactly what this extension does. It adds a button underneath your copyright notice which your mobile customers can press to reload the current page using the standard design, then switch back to the device optimised experience at any time.

There is nothing extra you have to do after installing the extension, as long as your store has a design exception defined as mentioned above.

Features

Adds a “View desktop version” or “View mobile version” link under the copyright notice
Message changes to “Changing view…” while the user waits for the preference to save and the page to reload
Only shows when using a device with a defined user agent change (eg: using the iPhone theme).
After user clicks “Show desktop version” ignores any user-agent based exceptions, so you always get the desktop version of the site
No additional setup required
Remembers selection for users session so they don’t have to press the button on each page they view
