The Esendex SMS notification extension gives you the ability to update your customers on the status of their orders. For example, a rule can be set up within Magento to send an SMS to a customer as soon as they place an order, a rule could also be set up to let the customer know whether their order has shipped or if their order has had to be cancelled.

SMS is a perfect tool for this kind of communication for a number of reasons. SMS has a much higher open rate than email, at 98% compared to 22%, SMS still has more of a personal feel to it than an email does, it will most likely differentiate you from your competition and an SMS can be received anywhere at any time on any phone as long as the recipient has a standard phone signal.

The Esendex SMS notification extension allows you to create SMS templates in the usual and familiar way, with set-up being the same as it is for the native Magento transactional emails. As well as creating SMS notifications to go out instantly, you can also add a delay onto the SMS. So if you’d like to remind a customer to pay, you can set an SMS to go out a few hours after purchase.
